Meet at the East Athens Educational Dance Center. Start time is 2 PM or 10 AM, depending on the season. Check the newletter, Discord, or Instagram for the current start time.
Brake Light Clinics
Twice a year we also host Brake Light Clinics. These events are where we change people’s broken brake lights for free in order to to reduce police interactions and also have discussions with people about their personal experiences with police.
More than 50,000 drivers are pulled over in a traffic stop every day in the U.S., according to the Stanford Open Policing Project, which collected reports that found police disproportionately stop black drivers at a higher rate compared to white drivers, and black drivers are 20 percent more likely to get a ticket than white drivers, underlining the stark racial disparities within the criminal justice system. The process for fixing brake lights is simple, but will help in reducing community interactions with police.
Stay tuned for announcements of when our next clinic will be scheduled!

UGA YDSA is the University of Georgia’s Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter and is the subsidiary of AADSA. We act as the youth and student section of DSA in the Athens area and we work with many local campaigns to address concerns relevant to not only UGA students but all Athenians. Through mutual aid work, educational events, activism, and community service we aim to create a better Athens and learn how to stand up for ourselves and others.

Democratic socialists believe that our economy should be built democratically, by and for working people, not by billionaires for profit.
We make room for a variety of strategic approaches to fighting capitalism. Whether you're repairing your neighbors' brake lights, organizing a rent strike in your building, or fighting for public control of electric power, one thing is clear: We're stronger together.
